Brendan is the Founder and CEO of BGS Consulting. He spent his first 8 years out of college in the audit practice of Arthur Andersen.  His career shifted in 1999 to business development as he continued in that capacity at Deloitte, McGladrey and MorganFranklin Consulting prior to founding BGS Consulting.

In 2017, Brendan founded BGS Consulting which brings together a rich network of accounting and finance resources to help clients succeed. BGS was founded on the principles that clients’ needs vary case by case, and therefore, the right solutions to address those needs vary considerably and a one size fits all approach is often not the best approach.  BGS Consulting provides the right balance between consulting/advisory and operational accounting know how to help design and execute solutions that fit the unique needs of our clients.  BGS Consulting provides a flexible and nimble approach to client service that allows us to effectively operate within the resource and budgetary constraints of our clients.

In his free time, Brendan enjoys golfing and spending time with his family which often includes college visits to Virginia Tech.

Bruce Prouty

Bruce Prouty

COO

Bruce is the Chief Operating Officer of BGS Consulting. Upon graduation from Georgetown University in 1987, Bruce joined the audit practice of DC office of Arthur Andersen, working with both private and publicly traded clients. After Andersen, Bruce helped build the finance/accounting teams at various companies in the construction, SaaS and staffing industries.

When joining BGS in 2018, Bruce was tasked with leading the recruiting and administrative functions of the firm. Through these functions, the firm furthers displays its core value that everyone deserves our best efforts.

Bruce found it difficult to balance family, triathlons and golf, so has shelved golf for the retirement years.

Frank Mencini

Frank Mencini

Managing Partner

Frank joined BGS Consulting in November 2023 and currently serves as Managing Partner.  Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Frank graduated from Penn State University, earned his CPA, spent three years in the audit practice of Arthur Andersen and then spent the next two years earning his MBA from Harvard Business School.  Frank returned to Andersen, advancing to Partner as he helped build and operate Andersen’s Healthcare Advisory Practice.  Following Andersen, Frank helped lead and grow a revenue-cycle and staffing business which was eventually sold to a private-equity backed company.  Frank then joined Inova Health System, a $6 billion integrated healthcare system based in Northern Virginia, serving as the CFO of the Physician Enterprise & Ambulatory Portfolio for seven years.  Concurrent with this, Frank was elected to the Board of Directors of FNB Corp., a publicly traded $50 billion asset financial services business based in Pittsburgh, PA, where he currently Chairs the Audit Committee and serves on several other board committees.  Most recently, Frank served as the CFO of a $200 million New York based private equity backed rollup enterprise.

As part of the BGS leadership team, Frank is focused on building and expanding relationships with key strategic partners, private equity and VC sponsored businesses.  Frank will help drive our service offering mix and delivery as well as the overall growth of the company. Frank’s extensive background and strong leadership capabilities bring a unique and valuable perspective to client service, company strategy, and growth initiatives.

Frank spends most of his free time with his wife, three daughters, extended family, and close friends.  He enjoys running and golfing.

Daniel Hughes

Managing Director

Daniel (Dan) is a Managing Director at BGS leading the business development team. After graduating from Longwood University, he started his career in the audit practice at RSM focusing on private equity-backed and high growth companies. Dan furthered his career at a national accounting advisory firm gaining experience in operational accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting. Prior to joining BGS, Dan was a manager in BDO’s Transaction Advisory group focusing on middle-market M&A.

As Managing Director of Business Development, Dan leads our BD team and strategy, and oversees the identification, acquisition, and ongoing service provided to BGS clients. Dan’s strong relationships in the market help establish and grow the BGS brand as he focuses on building dynamic relationships with finance executives, entrepreneurs, and business leaders.

In his free time, Dan enjoys golf, rooting for Washington sports and traveling with his wife and two rescue pups.

Diane Atwell

Senior Manager

Diane is a Senior Manager at BGS Consulting. Diane has spent her entire 40+ year career in accounting and finance in the local DMV area. She got her start as an accountant at Marriott Corporation in 1982. In 1994, she became the controller for a HVAC company. Then, she joined AMI Capital as assistant controller in 1996. In 1999, she became the controller for Congressional Quarterly, Inc. and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in 2000. In 2008, Diane was named the first CFO for Avalere Health, Inc. Following Avalere, she started her consulting career with Robert Half in 2014. Then, she was the Director of Finance and Accounting for Learning Without Tears in 2017. She resumed her consulting roles in 2018 with Robert Half, Protiviti, Anderson Frank and KForce. Diane joined BGS in June 2022.

As a Senior Manager, Diane manages client engagements providing support for audit readiness and system implementations.

In her free time, Diane enjoys reading and traveling with her family and friends.

Warren Binderman

Warren steps into his new role as Director of BGS Consulting, Business Transformation Services, with a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the accounting, financial and operational consulting landscapes. With a career that commenced at Arthur Andersen for over nine years, he then worked at KPMG, in the Deal Advisory Group, as wears their firm wide Department of Professional Practice. Warren’s multifaceted journey has seen him play pivotal roles, including owning and directing a full-service CPA firm, providing attestation services as well as technical GASP and financial consulting.

Warren has also been the CEO at a publicly traded company and CFO for two other publicly traded entities. His expertise extends to comprehensive involvement in financial reporting, operations, and SEC compliance, encompassing the meticulous preparation of 8-Ks, 10-Qs, 10-Ks, proxy statements, and other requisite forms. Beyond his financial acumen, Warren has been the CFO for a multi-faceted healthcare conglomerate, including laboratory services, hospitals and physician and pain management groups. His adeptness in post-acquisition integration on diverse deals, spanning hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, and strategic ventures, underscores his strategic prowess and ability to navigate complex business landscapes. As he takes on the role of Director at BGS Consulting, Warren brings a wealth of expertise that promises to drive the company’s success to new heights.

In this new role, Warren assumes a pivotal leadership position with BGS as a senior executive, poised to spearhead transformative initiatives and lend his invaluable insights to meet the dynamic needs of clients. His strategic vision and hands-on experience as a CEO and CFO for publicly traded companies uniquely position him to contribute to BGS’s continued growth and expansion. Warren is committed to fostering timely and intelligent client service, ensuring that BGS remains at the forefront of industry trends.

In his spare time, Warren enjoys spending time with his wife Mindy, and their three children and all his family and friends. He is involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including both financial and fundraising areas, and he also contributes to various nonprofit institutions. While not so good, he enjoys golf (when he plays well), and tennis, where he played competitively for many years.

Kyle Buzy

Kyle is a Senior Consultant in Business Development at BGS. Prior to joining in April 2021, he worked in a Client Services role with Aquarius Sports & Entertainment. He gained valuable experience in client relationship management, contract negotiation, sales, and marketing. Kyle attended Northeastern University where he played lacrosse and graduated with a degree in Finance and Economics.

Since joining BGS Kyle has been a contributor to the back-office operations including business development, client relationship management, and recruiting. Kyle brings a competitive energy to BGS’s Business Development team, with the goal of always delivering the highest quality service to our clients.

In his free time Kyle enjoys spending time with his family in Annapolis, going for walks with his dog, as well as playing golf & tennis.

Julia Corrigan

Julia is the Director of Recruiting at BGS. She has 26 years of agency recruiting experience in the Accounting & Finance areas at search firms in Philadelphia, Baltimore and the DC Metro area. Julia started in agency recruiting right out of college and is really grateful that she found her niche so early in life!

Julia specializes in providing candidates and bringing in new searches to the BGS team. She enjoys helping her candidates find that great next step and enjoys helping her clients find a great fit for their teams.

In her free time,  Julia volunteers at her church by teaching 2nd grade religious education and she also enjoys spending time with her husband and their dachshund puppy, Otto.

Martin Coster

Martin Coster

Director

Martin is the COO of BGS Fed. He spent his first 20 years out of college in the Government Contracting. He has worked in publicly traded and small startup companies, Initially working directly with the U.S. Navy in Fiscal management he has worked in government support roles and also industry best practices while at General Dynamics he held division financial leadership roles to include program management covering revenue in excess of $500M and finally leading the accounting department for AIS managing revenue in excess of $2.7B. In 2016 he shifted from his consulting to work in Finance and Accounting with Lucent Government Systems later acquired by CACI.

In 2022, Martin join BGS Fed as the COO working client engagement and business development, He uses the broad spectrum of organizations that he has supported to bring a mindset of best practices on systems, organizational design and information flow and analytics.

In his free time, Martin is an active private pilot, he enjoys tennis and golf and spending time with his family.

Matt Dickason

Upon graduation from Longwood University in 2014, Matt played one season of semi-professional baseball before transitioning into accounting. In 2016, Matt joined KPMG Norfolk as an audit associate where he served as an associate and senior associate for a total of 4 years. Matt then joined the BGS team in 2021. 

As a Manager at BGS, Matt serves clients for various accounting and finance roles based on client needs. Matt also assists with business development by utilizing his network in the Virginia Beach area.

In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with family, golfing, and is a co-host of a fantasy football podcast.

Andrew Eckert

Andrew is a Consultant at BGS. After graduating from Hiram College in 2012, Andrew worked as a master electrician for multiple theaters. Andrew worked for five years in public accounting before coming to BGS. 

As a Senior Consultant, Andrew supports BGS clients, providing audit services and operations management assistance.  He focuses on construction and revenue recognition and SOX support. 

In his free time, Andrew enjoys reading books and gardening.

Brian is a Senior Consultant at BGS. After graduating from University of St. Thomas (Houston) in 2016, Brian worked as an Assurance Associate up to Senior performed and in-charged Financial Statement Audits, Employee Benefit Plan Audits and Review Engagements.

As a Senior Consultant at BGS, Brian provides corporate accounting consulting services to our clients and assist the consulting firm with business development and recruiting efforts. Brian serves as a project senior and works with multiple BGS resources.

In his free time, Brian enjoys photography and spending time with his family.

Jim is a Manager at BGS. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2013, he went to work in the audit group at KPMG Detroit for three years. He later joined the Siegfried Group as a road warrior consultant traveling across the United States working on clients in various industries and in numerous functional roles. After three years with Siegfried, Jim joined BGS in 2021.

As a senior consultant at BGS, Jim provides accounting and financial reporting support to our clients, combining his audit background with years of consulting experience. Jim has experience at both public and private clients.

In his free time, Jim enjoys rooting for Michigan sports and traveling.

Riley Garcia

Business Development Senior Associate

Riley is a Business Development Senior Associate here at BGS. Prior to joining in June 2023, he worked in the Human Capital Management Industry. He gained valuable experience in sales and client relationship management. Riley attended James Madison University where he graduated with a degree in Marketing.

Since joining BGS, Riley has been a contributor to the back-office operations including business development, client relationship management, and recruiting. Riley brings an enthusiastic and eager approach, striving to further cultivate and grow strong relationships with BGS clients.

In his free time Riley enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing golf, and traveling.

Katelyn recently graduated from the University of South Carolina in May of 2023. In college, Katelyn played club volleyball and was involved in Panhellenic leadership roles in which she grew her communication and recruiting skills.

As a Recruiting Associate, Katelyn collaborates with the recruiting team to find, prep, and develop relationships with candidates. She works hard alongside the team to cater to the needs of our clients.

In her free time, Katelyn enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends.

Joe Grabow

Joe Grabow is an experienced finance and accounting leader with 20+ years of experience in technology, travel & hospitality, eCommerce, pharmaceuticals, and veterinary medical industries ranging from start-ups to global public companies. A consummate analytical problem solver and builder of scalable programs Joe thrives in challenging situations: business transformation, hyper growth, start-ups, turnarounds, business integrations and M&A transaction support.  Joe’s approach includes an emphasis on customer empathy and collaborative solutions.

Joe built and led the Expedia Group’s first technology finance function, supported the integration of Hotels.com and Hotwire into Expedia Group and championed enterprise technology and customer service initiatives generating hundreds of millions in annual savings.  He also led globally distributed retention marketing teams at Expedia for ten years.  Prior to Expedia Joe led finance and accounting functions for private equity owners including Thayer Capital and Golder Thoma & Cressey.

Joe enjoys time with family, travel, cooking and golf in his spare time.

Rex Hampton

Rex is a Manager at BGS Consulting. After graduating from the University of Virginia with
honors, he joined KPMG as an auditor for over 4 years. He is a CPA and has over 25 years of
accounting and finance experience.

Rex joined BGS in March of 2023 and he plans to serve many of BGS’ dynamic clients using his deep knowledge & experience in accounting and finance. 

In his free time, Rex enjoys exercising and spending time with his family.

Kristie Hepburn

Kristie Hepburn

Kristie is a Senior Manager with BGS specializing in accounting policy and U.S. GAAP application. She has spent the last twelve years of her career working for Fortune 500 Companies in an accounting policy role. In this role she has assisted the accounting staff understand the appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions especially in the real estate and investment banking industries.

She joined BGS in 2021 and has been assisting clients implement ASC 606. Additionally, she has been a part of project teams that work with clients to bring their financial statements into compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting.

In her free time, Kristie enjoys sailing and playing tennis.

Gerry Lindner

Gerry Lindner

Director

Gerry joined the BGS team in 2021 and provides technical accounting and financial reporting guidance to public and PE-backed high growth clients. At BGS, Gerry has led the cash-to-GAAP conversion of numerous PE portfolio companies and led these organizations through their first financial audit, establishing accounting policy and procedures and GAAP accounting standards. Prior to BGS, for nearly forty years, Gerry provided assurance and advisory services to clients ranging from global Fortune 500 firms to private equity backed start-up companies. As a Partner at Ernst & Young, Gerry worked alongside clients, executives, and their Boards to provide leadership and council on business strategies, mergers and acquisitions, capital transactions, internal control issues, cyber security and information technology matters, external financial reporting, business transformation, management performance, and corporate governance.  He has experience working with numerous industry sectors including consumer products, manufacturing, chemicals and minerals, professional services, technology, government contracting and healthcare. Gerry is currently the vice chair of the board of Junior Achievement of Central Maryland and a member of the Accounting Advisory Board of Loyola University Maryland. Gerry is a Certified Public Accountant.

Dutch is a Consulting Manager at BGS. Prior to joining the team in April 2021, Dutch began his career with Ernst & Young in both the commercial and government audit space, where he worked for 5 years. He enjoyed his time working on a wide variety of clients encompassing the technology, telecommunications, hospitality, healthcare, and defense sectors.

As a consultant, Dutch has worked on several projects, both in-person and remote. His most recent focus has been accounting system implementation from QuickBooks to NetSuite, financial reporting, cash management, and month close activities. He strives to provide exceptional client-service while also seeking to expand his knowledge-base and aptitude around the projects he is working through.

In his free time, Dutch enjoys golfing, cooking, and training his mini golden-doodle dog new tricks.

Tyan Morgan

Tyan is a Senior Consultant at BGS. In 2014 she graduated with her Bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Central Florida and started her career in the municipal securities market where she provided post-issuance compliance services to a variety of clients. She later graduated with her Master’s in accounting from the University of Michigan before transitioning to public accounting as an auditor for PWC, then to JBG Smith, a REIT in the Washington DC market, where she performed various accounting functions for a large mix of projects.

Following this she started her career in consulting at The Siegfried Group before joining BGS in 2022 As a Senior Consultant, Tyan utilizes her years of accounting experience to help clients solve a variety of issues and meet their financial goals.

During her free time, Tyan enjoys fitness, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and pursing new hobbies.

Jim Potochny

Director

Jim is a Director at BGS. After graduating with an MBA from Stanford Business
School, he began his career in finance, accounting and corporate development at
Hewlett-Packard. Jim went on to become CFO of several venture backed early stage
technology companies in Silicon Valley, then moved out to the DC Area, where he was
CFO of a publicly traded renewable energy focused private equity firm, and CFO of a
private equity backed IT services company in the middle market. Jim has a BS in
Electrical Engineering from Yale University and is a Virginia CPA.

At BGS, Jim primarily focuses on managing BGS teams providing finance and accounting
consulting services to private equity backed middle market companies, including
technical accounting services (e.g. purchase accounting, revenue recognition, and
lease accounting).

In his spare time, Jim is a professional level violinist and spends time with his
family in France and the US.

Andrew Riley

Andrew is an Accounting and Business Operations professional and Consultant at BGS.  After graduating from St. Mary’s University with his Bachelor’s in Accounting and Speech Communication in 2012 and his MBA in 2017, he spent half of a year in Schmalkalden, Germany working on a Master’s degree in International Business and Economics.  Andrew has a wide range of operational accounting experience, much of which was in the Oil and Gas Industry, and always keeps the big picture in mind.

As a consultant at BGS, Andrew has been helping clients find long term solutions to their business problems.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys working on and driving his cars and motorcycle as well as traveling internationally.

Anu Singh

Anu is a Senior Recruiting Consultant at BGS. After graduating from Oral Roberts University in 2013 with Master’s in Business Administration, Anu started his career as an auditor at Ernst and Young, LLP, in 2014. After a couple years at a Big 4, he moved to the DMV area to work for a regional company in Alexandria, VA. In 2018, he joined The Siegfried Group as an accounting consultant before joining BGS in 2022.

At BGS, Anu works as a recruiter to connect and recruit candidates with accounting and finance background for direct hires and any project-based needs.

In his free time, Anu enjoys spending time with family, photography and playing tennis.

Bain Storch

Bain Storch is a Senior Consulting Manager at BGS. Upon completion of his Master of Accounting from UNC Chapel Hill in 2003, Bain began his career as an auditor for Ernst & Young before transitioning to a Fortune 500 consumer-packaged goods corporation. He developed his trademark flexibility while moving between roles in Sales Finance, Excise Tax Accounting, Product Costing, Demand and Marketing Planning, and Discounting Operations. During this time, he also earned an MBA from Wake Forrest University. Bain began his consulting career in 2020 and joined the BGS team in February of 2022.

Bain has a passion for helping clients solve functional issues in their finance and accounting operations. He utilizes his diverse business background to help clients meet their organizational goals.

In his free time, Bain enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his hobbies of golfing, tennis, woodworking, landscape design, and forest management.

Christopher Sullivan

Chris is a Senior Consultant at BGS. After graduating from the University of Central Florida in 2017, Chris worked as an auditor with a boutique firm specializing in not-for-profit and governmental clients followed by a regional accounting public accounting firm focused on small to medium SEC reporting businesses before joining BGS Consulting.  

As a Senior Consultant, Chris brings his technical accounting skills and breadth of client experience to assist clients in their accounting needs. He leverages a wide range of industries and business types to deliver value through various engagements. 

In his free time, Chris enjoys playing games with friends and spending time with his growing family.

Christopher Welsh

Christopher Welsh is a financial professional with experience in audit, financial management and process improvement. With a strong background in accounting and a passion for driving operational excellence, Christopher delivers thoughtful and tailored solutions to his clients. Throughout his career, Christopher has demonstrated a keen ability to improve processes and manage change effectively. He has a track record of success in collaborating with clients to implement new systems, streamline operations and train employees. Whether working with finance teams or engaging directly with customers, Christopher is known for his strategic thinking and innovative solutions. Christopher earned his bachelor’s in accounting from Portland State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia.

In his role at BGS, Christopher will continue to exercise his honed skills to help internal teams, focusing on professional network growth, personal development, individual leadership, business development and employee engagement. Leveraging his business acumen and experience with various software including SAP, Oracle, Caseware and more, Christopher will help lead efforts to overhaul existing processes and enhance operational efficiency.

In his free time, Christopher enjoys running, watching movies and travelling with an emphasis on exploring the United States.

Autumn Wharton

Since graduating with her BS in Accounting from Plymouth State University in 2014, Autumn has lived in various locations along the East Coast. She began her career at Cambridge Computer Services, in Waltham, MA where she undertook the role of Logistics Manager. During this role she determined her passion for Accounts Payable. In 2019, after various accounting and operational roles, she took a position as a Global Accounts Payable Associate with Diligent Corporation. In 2021, Autumn joined BGS where she now acts as a Senior Accountant.

Within this position Autumn takes on various client engagements, as well as participates in recruiting activities. Engagements have included billing, KPI Reporting, data migration, and other various operational and managerial accounting activities.

When she’s off, she really enjoys listening to music and dancing.

James Whitmoyer

James is a Manager at BGS. After graduating from James Madison University in 2014, James worked as an auditor at RSM for three years in Tysons Corner. In 2017, he joined The Siegfried Group where he consulted for JBG Smith, a Maryland REIT, as they went through their IPO. He then joined JBG Smith after consulting there for fourteen months as an SEC Analyst. In 2021, James resumed his consulting career joining BGS Consulting.

As a Senior Consultant, James has provided accounting expertise and knowledge to various clients in several different industries. This includes the real estate, government contracting, and technology industries. Additionally, James has experience with both public and private clients.

In his free time, James enjoys watching Philadelphia sports, traveling and spending time outdoors.

Scott Wilson

Scott Wilson is an accomplished professional with 20+ years combined experience across accounting, finance, and consulting, including 10+ years in SEC reporting roles. His industry experience includes healthcare, financial services, solar, and manufacturing. Scott thrives in unique environments, collaborating with diverse audiences by leveraging a deep understanding of people, culture, and individual experiences.

As Senior Consultant for BGS Consulting, Scott served as the acting Director of SOX for Novavax from May 2021 – January 2022, and is currently serving as a senior consultant for business process improvement. He also helped a pre-commercial biotech company through growth and commercialization by advising them on internal controls for their inventory process.

In his free time, Scott enjoys traveling, grilling and spending time with his family.

Lisa Zoch

Lisa graduated recently from Bucknell University in May of 2023, where she played Division I volleyball and studied international relations, economics, and Spanish. In the summer of 2022 prior to her graduation, Lisa interned with BGS as a Business Development Intern where she worked with the Business Development team.

Since rejoining the BGS team in June 2023 as a Business Development Associate, Lisa has been working to further progress Business Development initiatives a long with continuously learning from the team to build lasting relationships with clients and candidates.

In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as keeping up with volleyball and traveling.

Brian Mitchell is an Advisory Board Member at BGS. Brian is an icon in the Washington community with a career spanning 14 years of professional football, television and radio broadcasting, motivational speaking, podcasting, and supporting numerous charitable organizations and philanthropies.

As an Advisory Board member, Brian will work with our leadership team to help develop new markets and new client opportunities and strengthen our presence in the DMV market.
